Inspiration: This represents the peril that Haiti faces if it continues to ignore the environment, as do we all. Besides the deforestation and its terrible consequences, there is no organized system of garbage removal so trash lines the roads and clogs the waterways. Everything on an island runs down to the sea and those waterways have deposited a combination of soil from land erosion and trash on what were once the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.
My Story I visited a very modest enterprise, which is seeking to utilize the trash as a source of energy to produce bread and oil. In this painting I invite the viewer to imagine what an unlimited source of energy such as the sun and an unpolluted nature can do to reverse the damage done.
