Inspiration: The fact that man-made activities are having a negative impact on the health of our planet can no longer be debated, and those negative influences are often most noticeable in an island of limited size with a soaring population such as Haiti. The continued use of charcoal as the principal fuel for both domestic and commercial use has let to a progressive deforestation of what was once a paradise. And which can become such again if human activity permits.
My Story: This is the source of the optimism represented by the mixture of colors chosen in these two works where the dawn and the sunset are depicted. While it is true that the bare tree depicted in the first painting stands on a denuded hill, the fact that it is enveloped in gold suggest a hope of renewal and rejuvenation.
